Coptotermes spp. Queen 屬Masotermitidae、Rhinotermitidae (eg Coptotermes spp.)、Termitidae (eg Macrotermes spp.及Globitermes sulphureus)等科
在土壤內築巢，十分依賴土壤內的水份。為免暴露在空氣時脫水，地棲性白蟻築泥道以覓食，在地面上築出泥道以接近木料或其他纖維來源。纖維素在白蟻腸道內元生動物的協助之下，分解成更簡單的澱粉。
